Space Mentoring

May your home emerge and become a safe place for you to retreat from the world and feel at peace.

What is space mentoring ?

Your inner wold is a reflection of your outer world and vice versa.

I support clients whose lives have become unmanageable due to an accumulation of physical stuff.

I meet people whose homes have become their prison, who are living in a way that forces them into ever smaller spaces and limits their freedom.

I want to turn back the tide, to help you reclaim your space, help you to clear the clutter and return your home to the tranquil oasis you desire.

I recognise that holding on to physical objects is a manifestation of a deeper pattern. In alignment with my holistic approach I will support you on a cognitive, emotional and physical level to shine a light on this pattern. We may explore past traumas and limiting beliefs as we dig over your internal landscape, clearing it ready for fresh seeds to be planted.

I intend to hold a mirror up to you, that you may see your pattern more clearly, as with understanding and awareness comes the ability to take make a different choice.

Our time together may consist of counselling or coaching and it will include practical help clearing and organising your space.

Whatever you need in each moment.

I choose to open my heart to those in need of this support in exchange for a nominal fee.

In return I expect your commitment, determination and perseverance.

How I work

My Story

I know the pain of getting rid of beloved items.

I experienced this on a regular basis every wet school holiday when my mum decided it was time to ‘have a clear out’ and go to her favourite place, the local tip.

For her this was a gleeful experience, as when we returned the house looked clean and free from clutter. Everything was in its place.

For me I learned to mask my discomfort with laughter, I got l caught up in pleasing her and neglected my need to hold on to this stuff.

I still miss some of the items that I had to let go. I mourn their loss and wish I had had more support, someone fighting in my corner when I was being asked to throw things away.

Once I was in control of my own destiny, and had my own home I doggedly clung on to my remaining items from my childhood for as long as possible and some boxes remain safely stored away.

I went through a significant period of de-cluttering when I decided to move from my cottage to a Shepherd's hut. I did not want to pay for storage and therefore I could only take with me what would fit in a small outbuilding.

My three years living in a Shepherd's hut taught me what stuff was actually important. I had to get back to basics.

I left this beautiful home in a hurry, which caused me to shed even further items. This was a traumatic time for me and I let go of many things that I now regret.

I know the importance of doing this mindfully, in your own time, without excessive coercion or pressure.

I cannot know what it is like as I have not lived in a home where large parts of it are inaccessible, where even going to the bathroom is a military operation, where cooking is a distant memory and  it is easier to buy pre-prepared meals and eat off paper plates rather than have to clear the sink to wash up...

... But I understand your mindset, because I share it.

What does mentoring look like?

I work with one or two individuals at any one time and have an application process, to establish your readiness, level of commitment and whether we are a good fit.

We will meet on a weekly basis.

Sessions may be at your home, my therapy room, or online.

I work with clients in Congleton, Macclesfield and surrounding areas.
